Inside the Feis Bag
Everything
... but the Kitchen Sink

First the Outfit.

  • Your shoes, neatly polished, Buckles shiny and decent laces.
  • Socks. Check that they are in good condition and match
  • Your dress
  • A smock and garment bag
  • Knickers
  • A change of clothes, including shoes

Then the Hair

  • Hairspray (- with sparkles if you dare)
  • A bag to put the curlers in
  • A hairnet or slumber net
  • Bobby pins
  • Scrunchies, a headband, tiara
  • Combs and Hairbrushes

Medical

  • Band-Aids
  • Plenty of water
  • Paracetamol or something for pain relief (no asprin for littlies)
  • Strapping tape for twists and sprains.
  • Instant cold pack

Odds and Ends

  • Address and times for the competition
  • Safety pins
  • Dress shields for older girls
  • Sock Glue - I know it's dear, but it's fab
  • Money
  • A pen or two and a diary to write results in
  • Toilet Paper and Tissues (don't laugh, you might be grateful)
  • Gaffer tape, if the floor is very very slippery. Don't use it "just in case"
because it can kill the sound of the beats.
  • An audio tape of your set dance if necessary.
  • Don't get blasé. Take a camera in case she wins!

Hints

  • Make sure small people have something to occupy them.
  • Bring something healthy to eat that isn't messy. You can O.D .on hot chips at some venues.
  • Get there a little early, nobody does well if they're flustered. That goes for mums' unrolling as
    well as dancers.
  • Don't have anywhere important to go afterwards, because that's the day it'll be running late.
  • Have fun with your children. If it starts too many fights, try netball
